National Geographic in Vivocity wakes the spendthrift

Went Vivocity this afternoon and saw a huge shop on level one taken up by National Geographic. Was curious so I went in to look-see. There was the expected magazine and nature related books, stationary, soft toys and clothes, but it was more than that. Half of it was sort of like a photos gallery and its way cool. of course, they are selling pictures and posters, this is why there is such a display. Still, the photos were amazing. Makes me feel like buying a DSLR again. Sigh....

I like taking photos, and often feel irritated by the limitations of a digital camera (e.g. I nv had been able to get a good picture of the moon). But that camera is gonna be so heavy and bulky, it'll be kinda troublesome to lug it ard, so I might end up hardly using it. Furthermore, it seems that if I really want to take good pictures, I am gonna need to invest in lens. But my interests are diverse. I like landscape, but I enjoy taking close-ups and trying to capture things in motion as well. So in order to sastify little ole me, I will need to invest in at least a few different lens, and that will cost a bomb.

I'm not trying to become a professional photographer, or even a particularly good amatuer. I just want to take pretty pictures. Is that really worth it?

Alex Toh

During my Secondary school days I idolised him. Gd looking, can sing and dance and always crooning the most romantic love songs: 钟爱一生 (a lifelong love), 把你宠坏 (let me spoil you), feel so lonely, 嫁给我 (marry me), 不走 (baby don't go)... and many more.

Today was watching the rerun of Taiwan's Taoyuan's New Year countdown, and as the last item of the year, he came up crooning those love songs. I dropped wat i was doing to listen and was enjoying so much, then the bomb dropped. The last song is the infamous "脱掉(strip)". Goodness. I literally ran away from the TV.

Real life is fairy tales in reverse. The prince ends up becoming the frog or the beast. With age, the romantic prince charming became the lecherous old pervert. So sad. I still like those songs, but I can never admire the singer again.

Another cat day

When on another stroll and took every kitty in the neighbourhood that I came across. Scaring quite a few in my persistance to "capture" them :P But because of that, got a interesting photo of a kitty peeping at me thru a hole in the drain. hehe....

Succumbed

Yours truly ended up on Facebook after all. Where peer pressure failed, curiosity conquered. This is forever goin to be one of my worst weakness. Exams ended, therefore, brought students to com lab, just to see wat they are interested in now (all the easier to bribe them with :P). And 50% went on facebook. Even China students, except they went on the chinese version which is known as happy farm.

Forest girls

Today's news reported that there is a new fad in japan known as the 'forest girls'. Such girls are natural as they do not chase after branded goods but prefer small shops, they enjoyed an afternoon reading away in the cafe and they like to go on walks with a camera to take pictures of nice stuff. I couldnt help but think, hey... those kinda sound like me. lol. guess wat peepz, im part of a new fashion culture! In fact, I can be considered a pioneer as i have been reading afternoons away since sec sch. :P hahaha....

The weird thing is how did this turn into a special fad in japan that is gaining so such popularity that shops come up with 'forest girls' fashion and merchandise? I mean, doesnt that go against the whole "natural" factor of the forest girls? I mean watever happened to not buying branded goods and visiting small shops?
