Just my own narrow minded thoughts

I don't really follow politics. I'm the kind of person who only starts paying attention when General Election rolls around and I have to make a vote. As such, I definitely am more like one of those students who are last minute muggers, burning midnight oil before exams.

I readily admit most of the budget and policies are over my head, I read them without fully understanding the whole picture. I am having a hard time differentiating government schemes and things that are town council specific as well.

But what irritates me the most are the discussion about Covid19. Yes, this is a global pandemic, and everyone wants to know how it will be handled from here on. But can the discussion be broaden and not be so narrow minded?

I didn't appreciate how sudden and fast the changes for dealing with the pandemic came about during Feb to May period. But I understood that this situation is unpreceldented, and the government is also coping with it as best as they can.

But the general public response to those changes, really grated on me. An announcement is made on news or facebook live on Friday, then immediately the calls and messages as to how you and your organisation are dealing with it start poring in. They keep thinking that someone else must have been "in the know" and are prepared to provide solutions or alternatives for them. Then phase 2 was announced, people immediately tried to arrange to go out for father's day celebration.

I do not know how a government can take care of thousands who refuse to take care of themselves. I don't see how the situation can be controlled if people keep pushing at the boundaries of what is adviced.

I would rather find out what plans the candidates have to corral the "sheep and stubborn mules" if other events with nation wide effects appear. Whether it be healthcare wise or threat of invasion/war and so on.

Covit19 is scary and life threatening, but what is scarier is how unprepared we were as a people to deal with huge life changing events. I actually think the government responded as fast and as best as they could, but its citizens in particular that made things so difficult.

I guess its because of my job, I understand how difficult directing large groups of individuals can be, and I know a lot of the responsibility lies on the individuals that cause trouble. But just like a teacher has to be responsible with managing students in a class, government is responsible with managing citizens. So what I really want to know is, what measures the candidates can come up with to better manage citizens' panicked responses, pushing of boundaries and so on.

School Blues

I tend to think of myself as someone who likes children. I believed I would want to have as many kids that I can afford and manage. Yet every year when school reopens, I have to end up reconsidering it by 2nd or 3rd week of school. Sometimes, they give me such a headache, that I am scared of the idea of having my own children. I understand why it is easy for teachers to feel burnt out or get depression. I feel like I might join the "club" anytime.

If it is financially possible, I really do not want to work full time. Teaching is really almost a 24/7 job. Our long holidays, which so many people are envious of, seems like a recovery period to me. I feel so sad that it is still January, and I seem to have used up half of what I recovered during the hols.

So near yet so far

And by that I mean the holidays. I really really REALLY need a break and there are about 3 more weeks left before schools' out. Nope, did not miscount. That 1 week worth of meetings really has to be taken into consideration in order for it to be fair to me.

I feel like I'm in jail, and the students feel the same, so they are making it difficult for me to clear the work left. I've stressed like umpteen times that once we cleared work we can go computer lab or watch videos and they still cannot focus. They are making my life a lot more difficult.

I am getting extremely sick of working. I am wondering is the pay worth it. And if the holidays don't come soon, I am going to go crazy.

The series has been licensed

First was Onemanga, now its Mangafox. More and more series are being licensed and it feels like the online manga sites are getting shut down. Looks like I can't save my money even if I want to. I was seriously considering not buying manga anymore and then this happens. Sad. :( I know the authors and publishers need to make money. But series are ex, and it makes no sense to stop collecting if you have a few of it already. So it becomes a very expensive hobby. Besides, books take up lots of space, and manga aren't the only books I want. >.<

Life is a juggling act

Life is a juggling act. Each one of us has plenty of balls which we are trying to keep in the air: work, studies, family, health, chores, hobbies, love, friends... The list is very long for most of us. But how many balls can one juggle?

I duno about other people, but I have been dropping balls here and there, sacrificing some in order to keep the few I think are important up there. I read an article about life as an juggling act, but it sums everything into six balls. Bullshit. There are definitely more that a mere six. It also claims that "work" is made of rubber, and it wouldn't matter if it were dropped, as you can always get it back whole. More bullshit. Work = Life is not healthy. But no work means no money. Haven't u heard "no money, no honey" where to get love then? Without money, how to meet up with friends? How to support family? What are you going to further your studies on? Besides, everytime you "drop" work, its smaller when you get it back.

So though I may sulk and whine. I will still go to work tmr. Tho it causes me to be dateless tmr, I can't do much but whine. Happy V'day everyone. Hope you get your celebration.
